Interim Liberal leader Bob Rae is trying to shut the door on conversations of a possible merger between the Liberals and the NDP.
Since Jack Layton passed away, some, like Liberal MP Denis Coderre, have suggested the progressive parties unite.
Rae says the idea isn’t even on the radar for the party because the focus is on reorganizing Liberals and being a strong opposition to the Harper government.
He says all of this talk of a merger is pure fiction and when asked if the door is opened or closed to even talking about it, he said there wasn’t even a door.
Rae made the comments during the Liberal summer caucus meeting on Parliament Hill.
