Ottawa man sentenced to life for murder

A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 12 years in connection with the shooting death of Paul Marcelus.

Lee Tyler Batson was found guilty of second degree murder earlier this year for shooting Marcelus repeatedly in a Besserer Street apartment in December of 2008. Marcelus died the next day.

Batson had originally been charged with first degree murder but the jury found the crown had failed to prove that Batson had intended and planned to kill Marcelus.
