McGuinty promises to continue uploading services

Ontario’s Liberal leader is warning towns and cities a Progressive Conservative government will not help their cash-strapped budgets.
Dalton McGuinty addressed the Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Mayor’s Breakfast. He said a Liberal government would keep uploading services from municipal budgets to the province.
McGuinty claims a Tim Hudak government would mean the end of that.
“If you continue to add this burden onto our municipal partners, they’re going to have to download it onto their property taxpayers and I think that’s something that we should be working at all costs to avoid.”
McGuinty told the crowd, which included not only Mayor Jim Watson, but more than half a dozen city councillors, that his government has already uploaded almost one billion dollars in provincial responsibilities and an additional half billion is to be uploaded by 2018.
NDP leader Andrea Horvath makes a campaign stop in Ottawa Centre today and Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak is campaigning in the southwest part of the province.
