Taxi fare hike nixed

There will be no hike for taxi fares in Ottawa.
The CAW Local 1688 Ontario Taxi Union withdrew its request to see a 10 per cent meter increase.
Ottawa’s community and protective services committee is recommending there be no increase to the fares after the union’s withdrawal.
The committee had been calling for a 2.5 per cent increase.
The union said it made the withdrawal after realizing the economic impact a rate hike would have on users.
