The Wakefield Steam Train may live to ride the rails again.
With the heavy rains that hit this spring washing away some of the land surrounding the tracks, it was thought the popular tourist attraction would fade away like the very power system the engine uses.
However, a new report shows for $7-million the train could be back up and running by the summer of 2013.
The Outaouis Tourism Board says the math is simple, the train brings up to 60,000 people to Wakefield each summer generating $10-million in revenue.
The next step seems to be lobbying the three levels of government for funding to make those repairs.
