Leos pummel Saskatchewan in Regina

REGINA, SK (NEWS1130) – After starting the season 0-5, the Lions are now 6-6 after demolishing the Saskatchewan Roughriders 42-5.

The Lions host Edmonton at refurbished BC Place Stadium next Friday night.

During their current five-game winning streak, the BC defence has not allowed a touchdown in four of those contests. The Roughriders had six turnovers in the game, while BC had zero. The ‘Riders committed 16 penalties.

BC was in full control of the game in the second quarter, scoring three touchdowns, as they were up 30-3 at the end of the first half. Quarterback Travis Lulay hooked up with Arland Bruce on a 100-yard scoring play and Leos defensive back Ryan Phillips picked off a Darian Durant pass for an 81-yard major. Phillips has 31 career interceptions and 14 have come against the ‘Riders.

Geroy Simon collected his 95th career touchdown on a 14 yard-pass from Lulay in the third quarter.

Kicker Paul McCallum connected on all four of his field goals, and has kicked 26 straight.  The CFL record is 28 consecutive field goals, set by Saskatchewan’s  Dave Ridgway.
