Batalia’s dad pleads for info as surveillance video released

SURREY (NEWS1130) – The father of a 19-year-old student shot dead last month at SFU’s Surrey campus is pleading for anyone with information about his daughter’s killer to contact police.
Harry Batalia called Maple his “little angel” as he urged people to put away fear and come forward, saying Canada delivers some of the best justice in the world.
“This is a disastrous thing that has happened to my daughter,” he said outside the Surrey RCMP detachment Friday evening. “This has to be liquidated or whatever, exterminated. It should never happen to any home in this universe.”
“I pray to all the good souls on this Earth to come forward.”
Batalia was gunned down in the Central City parkade in Surrey more than a week ago.
No arrests have been made and police are not commenting on reports that Batalia’s ex-boyfriend turned himself in, in relation to an altercation just days before her murder.
Police, though, have released two surveillance videos depicting a white Dodge Charger, which they say has been identified as the suspect vehicle. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is asking for any witnesses who may have seen the car in the area the night of Sept. 28 to contact investigators.
