Health Canada reminds us there are steps to take when you are preparing your food to ensure your feast is a safe one. Turkey poses particular safety threats because it can be easily contaminated with salmonella. Andre Jean of health Canada told 1310 News that by putting the turkey directly in the fridge after getting it, or by keeping it frozen until you cook it can diminish the risk. It’s also advised not to stuff a turkey, but if you insist Jean advises to “Stuff it loosely and monitor the temperature. Stuffing should reach 74°C”.
It’s estimated there are eleven million cases of food related illness’ in Canada each year.
