BlackBerry maker faces smartphone technical glitches for a third day

Research in Motion has confirmed Canadian Blackberry users may not be able to instant message or access their Twitter or Facebook accounts, Wednesday.

The slowdown was first reported at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

No word how long it will take to fix or if this is spillover from technical problems that have blacked out service overseas for the past three days.

The outage initially affected users in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and some areas of South America, though it has since spread to affect some users in Asian markets including Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and India.

RIM has been struggling to repair what it says was a failure within the company’s own infrastructure.
