The new IKEA store at Iris Street and Pinecrest Road is set to open December 7th.
The big yellow and blue building is the biggest IKEA in Canada and will be four times the size of the current store at the other end of the parking lot.
It will expand from 100,000 square feet to 398,000 square feet, and will carry 9,500 different products which is double what the existing location currently sells.
IKEA Canada spokeswoman Madeleine Lowenborg-Frick said “This will be the full IKEA experience.”
Line-ups tend to be long on busy days but not to worry, the new location will have 36 cash registers, up from 12.
The existing location has 270 shopping carts for all of your ready-to-assemble furniture, the new gargantuan store will offer 700 buggies.
Lowenborg-Frick expects more than 13,000 visitors to attend the grand opening. Construction of the new building began in July 2010.
