Canucks host Wild in afternoon showdown

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks will face the Minnesota Wild for the first time this season in a rare afternoon meeting at Rogers Arena.
This is the first of six meetings between the two teams. The Canucks took last years season series as they won four of six games.
The Wild have a much different look this season. Minnesota brought in a few new names through a pair of trades with the San Jose Sharks. Over the summer Dany Heatley and Devin Setoguchi were moved to the Wild while Brent Burns and Martin Havlat were shipped west.
Both teams are coming off victories on Thursday. For the second time in two games the Canucks peppered the opposing goaltender with 40 shots as they cruised past the Nashville Predators 5-1.
Minnesota’s win was a bit more dramatic as Heatley scored with just 1.2 seconds left to force overtime and the Wild won in the shootout, beating the Edmonton Oilers 2-1.
Cory Schneider is expected to get the start in goal for Vancouver. It’s his third start of the year. He has a 1-1 record with a 2.03 goals against average.
