Carleton University defends security in wake of recent assaults

Carleton University defended its security system, one of only ten universities in Canada which has such extensive measures on campus.

The 24 security staff on campus are actually police trained, and they had to be sworn in by the chief of police before they could join the patrol.

Police have been hunting for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a student in the Carleton tunnels last week, an Asian man described as early 20s, standing approximately five feet two inches and weighing between 140 and 150 pounds.

The victim described the man as clean shaven and with no visible distinguishing features, scars or tattoos. She told university safety he was wearing a black fall jacket and blue jeans.
