New canal chalets being checked for flood damage

The National Capital Commission will be checking the new canal chalets for flood damage.

Parks Canada and the NCC raised the water levels in the canal to the depth needed for the winter ice. The rising water flooded the seven brand new chalets which cost $750,000.00 apiece.

The NCC admits they are on a learning curve with these new structures.

The water level will be lowered today and the chalets inspected for damage. The water level will then be slowly raised over the next several days.
