Blue is back for Jays

TORONTO, Ont. – The blue is back for the Toronto Blue Jays, and so is the Canadian red, in the form of the maple leaf.
The team has unveiled its new uniform and logo and its has a retro look.
The Jays will sport these new uniforms on opening day April 5, 2012.
“Updating our original logo, the strong affinity to go back to ‘blue’ and returning the red Maple Leaf to the primary mark recognizes the classic look of which we feel baseball logos and uniforms should consist,” Paul Beeston, president and CEO of the Toronto Blue Jays and Rogers Centre, said in a release.
“This new look represents what the Blue Jays mean to our players, staff and most importantly, from the sentiment expressed by our fans. The uniforms truly capture the essence of the Blue Jays vision, showing our strong commitment to our country as Canada’s only Major League baseball club.”
The new look was designed to respect and recognize the rich history the Blue Jays over the 35 seasons, but with a modern twist.
The uniforms contain different shades of blue, but not the powder-blue uniforms of the 1970s.
