Thousands brave rain for Grey Cup parade

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A big parade through Downtown Vancouver kicked off Grey Cup festivities this weekend. And some die-hard fans made the journey from across Canada.
One Winnipeg supporter flew in to support his Blue Bombers as they take on the BC Lions tomorrow at BC Place. He says Lions fans have been pretty friendly, so far.
“I came in yesterday and I’ve only had one bad comment so far. The fans have been really nice, it’s more of a friendly competition than a real rival, you know what I mean?”
For some at today’s parade it’s an annual tradition to attend the parade. That’s the case for the Booze Brothers, a group of 20 guys who are mostly Lions fans. They say it’s great to have the Grey Cup in Vancouver.
“You got to love it. We have a great memory of 1994, that last play of that game was awesome.”
Many members of the group were dressed in black suites and sunglasses. They’ve been to 20 Grey Cup championship games and will be attending this year’s match as well.
Today’s parade was highlighted by KISS frontman Gene Simmons and his family as well as Grand Marshal and Glee actor Cory Monteith.
The big game is Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
