Local bars expect big crowds for Grey Cup

Bars in the capital are gearing up for a night of big business, as fans pack into bars to watch the 99th Grey Cup.

Many pubs brought in extra staff in order to accommodate the big crowds.

“With the Grey Cup on we’ve got a lot of staff on and we’re hoping it’s going to be a good crowd,” said Jessica, a server at MacLaren’s sports bar.

Other bar owners said they are offering special food deals for the occasion.

“I expect it to be busy,” said Doug, the owner of the Fox and Feather pub.
“It’s like our Super Bowl crowd. We’re always big for big events.”

Servers and owners suggested that fans come early if they want to get a good spot.

“We have capacity at around 150, so we hope to reach that,” said Peter, the owner of Sir. John A pub.

He said people should show up around 4:30 on Sunday to get a good seat!
