The city and Ottawa Police are asking an arbitrator to rule on a new contract for police officers.
Talks between the police and the city broke down late Friday evening.
The main sticking point is salaries. The police union is asking for a three per cent raise for each of the next three years, but Mayor Jim Watson said he would not allow more than a 2.5 per cent increase.
Police officers have been working without a contract since December 31st. All further contract negotiations will be handled by the new Ottawa Police Association President, who will be selected on Wednesday.
