City hears proposal from Plasco Energy

The city has unveiled details of a proposed deal with Plasco Energy that would see Ottawa pay Plasco about $9-million a year to take its garbage for its plasma gasification process.

After a three year start up program, the plant would pay to dispose of any waste it could not process.

According to City Manager Kent Kirkpatrick, sending the garbage to Plasco would extend the life of the Trail Road facility by 27 years.

City council will vote later this month on the proposed deal.
