Man arrested for robbery and extortion

An Ottawa man is facing several assault and weapons related offences after an incident yesterday in the west end.

Police say the victims of an extortion attempt walked into a police station and told officers an armed man had taken over their home and was selling drugs from the house. They said they were threatened and extorted for money.

Officers from the Guns and Gangs Unit went to the address and arrested 26 year old Mohammed Nowabe of ottawa.

He appears in court today to face a total of eight charges.
