A banged up battle at Scotiabank Place

KANATA – The Ottawa Senators offense broke out with five 2nd period goals, they went on to earn a 6-4 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at Scotiabank Place.
Jason Spezza and Jared Cowen both had four points on the night. Erik Karlsson had three assists of his own and is now tied for the league lead.
Once again, Sidney Crosby was out of the Pittsburgh line-up, still experiencing concussion symptoms after playing just eight games on the season. The Pens were also missing Jordan Staal.
The Sens have some high quality injuries of their own: Filip Kuba (shoulder) and Sergei Gonchar (lower body) still out of the lineup, although both are skating and looking closer to return.
Also, the leagues leading goal scorer Milan Michalek missed his 2nd straight game with a concussion of his own. Michalek has 19 goals so far this season.
The Sens had lost four of their last five games coming in to this one.
The Senators next game is on Tuesday night when they host the Buffalo Sabres.
