OTTAWA- The Senators have acquired Phoenix centre Kyle Turris in exchange for defenceman David Rundblad and a 2nd round draft pick.
The trade marked the end to a difficult relationship between Turris and the Coyotes. Turris was involved in a lengthy contract dispute before finally signing a US $2.6-million, two-year deal on Nov. 22.
“We hope Kyle is a good second-line centreman who will come in and play hard,” said Sens GM Bryan Murray. “We believe he is a very talented young man that will be a real nice addition to our forward group.”
Turris is pointless in six games with the Coyotes this season. He was picked 3rd overall by Phoenix in the 2007 draft.
Swedish defenceman David Rundblad played 24 games for Ottawa. The 2009 first-round pick registered a goal and three assists for Ottawa this season.
