Unattended candle causes early morning fire

OTTAWA – Christmas morning started unpleasantly for tenants of a downtown apartment.
Ottawa fire responded to a call at 529 Sussex Drive around 3:30 A.M. Sunday.
Smoke was reported coming from the second floor of a building atop a retail store.
Firefighters discovered a room a blaze apparently set by an unattended candle.
The fire was quickly put out.
No one was injured, and damage is estimated at $30,000.
