Funeral services held for two Renfrew teens

Two Renfrew teenagers killed in a car crash on Highway 17 last week, were remembered at memorial services on Saturday afternoon.
The family and friends of Keegan Melville and Zabrina Rekowski said their final goodbyes at separate memorial services.
Over 300 people packed into the Horton Community Centre for Keegan’s memorial service, many of them young students.
The 18-year-old was a talented musician in the jazz program at Laurentian and he also played in his own band.
Keegan’s friends from Laurentian filled two buses and travelled to Renfrew for the service.
Family friend Joyce told 1310News Keegan was a joyful, energetic young man.
“Keegan was the type of man that you would hope that your daughter would meet and marry,” said Joyce. “He was just a really genuinely good, honest, sincere kid.”
At Zabrina’s celebration, family members wore bright yellow T shirts with the message “the Z team,” scrawled across the front. Some people even painted their faces with the letter “Z.”
Zabrina’s friend Matthew told 1310News it was a send-off 19-year-old Zabrina would have liked.
“Basically just remembering everything, all the parties and all the good times we had and stuff,” said Matthew. “That’s the way Z wanted it. She didn’t want it to be this sad thing and stuff, she wanted laughter and smiles.”
Keegan and Zabrina were killed in a crash on Highway 17 last Tuesday, along with fellow student Hillary Afelskie.
