Fire rips through home near North Gower

OTTAWA – A log cabin home on Rogers Stevens Drive, west of North Gower, was destroyed by fire Wednesday.
The fire at 3415 Rogers Stevens broke out around 1:30 p.m and was spotted by a passerby who called police. No one was inside the home at the time of the fire.
The 2nd level sustained heavy fire damage and the roof has been almost completely destroyed. The main level of the home sustained smoke and water damage. Crews will be on scene until at least 4:30 pm, watching for hotspots.
Damage is estimated at $350,000. There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
Rogers Stevens Drive was closed between Dwyer Hill and Malakoff Roads while Ottawa fire battled the blaze but it has since re-opened.
