Via Rail passengers angry at delay

Passengers on board a Via Rail train headed from Toronto to Ottawa say they were abandoned in Smiths Falls.

The train reportedly stopped in the town around 4 p-m  because of problems with an air compressor. Passengers were stuck in their cars for around three hours.  They say not only was it hot in the cars but the toilets were overflowing and the doors were locked.

Passenger Jolanta Mojsej  says they had to use Twitter to get in touch with representatives from Via Rail, who assured them they were not abandoned and that the staff were just in a meeting.

Buses finally arrived to bring the passengers to Ottawa and they are being offered compensation for their ordeal.
