Schneider for Nash? Canucks trade rumours circulating

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – With a top-quality NHL goal-scorer on the trading block, Vancouver Canucks fans can always dream.

Pundits believe backup goalie Cory Schneider is ready for NHL prime time but won’t get the chance with Canucks management being committed to Bobby Lou. So, the rumours have the Canucks putting Schneider on the trading block to get Rick Nash from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

But don’t get your hopes up, Canucks fans. Rick Dhaliwal with News1130 Sports says we shouldn’t bet on that trade happening.

“Rick Nash comes with a $7.8 million salary cap hit. He has given Columbus a list of teams — no more than 10 — to which he would approve a trade to. We have no idea if the Canucks are on that list,” he explains.

“Everyone talks about Cory Schneider, Mason Raymond and a first-round draft pick [in exchange for Nash]. But maybe Columbus is asking for more. I mean, this is the first overall pick in the National Hockey League 10 years ago; he’s a big name. Trades of this magnitude just don’t happen every day,” notes Dhaliwal.

We’ll see; the NHL trade deadline is the 27th.
