The streak is over

DETROIT (NEWS1130) – Alex Burrows had the only goal in the shootout, lifting the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-3 victory that snapped the Detroit Red Wings‘ NHL-record 23-game home winning streak. Detroit hadn’t lost at Joe Louis Arena since Nov. 3 against Calgary.

Daniel Sedin scored his second goal of the game with 15.4 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 3.

Roberto Luongo was perfect in the skills competition stopping Jiri Hudler, Henrik Zetterberg and Todd Bertuzzi. Vancouver shooters David Booth and Alexander Edler were denied by Jimmy Howard before Burrows took advantage with a backhand.

The Canucks were down three times during the game and still managed to battle back to collect two points and boost their wins on the road total to 21. But, the NHL-leading Red Wings still hold a one-point lead over Vancouver in the Western Conference.
