Sears store in the Rideau Centre closing in October

The retail landscape in the capital is changing.

Sears Canada has announced three store closures including Ottawa’s store at the Rideau Centre.

Sears stores will also shut down at the Vancouver Pacific Centre and the Calgary Chinook Centre.

The agreement is definitive and only subject to customary closing conditions. The deal is set to be finalized by Apr. 20 with all stores closing their doors Oct. 31.

The Sears store in the Rideau Centre opened in 2000.

Associates working at the affected stores will be given the chance to apply for work at remaining Sears locations.
