Chaudière Crossing closed to drivers for two weekends in March

If the Chaudière Crossing is your route of choice to get between Ottawa and Gatineau, you might want to seek an alternative for two weekends in March.

The federal government has allotted $250-million in new funding towards a series of public infrastructure projects giving some Ottawa area bridges a much needed facelift

The Chaudière Crossing will be closed both directions between 7 a.m Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday on the weekends of Mar. 3-4 and Mar. 17-18.

The temporary closures will not affect pedestrians, but cyclists will be required to walk their bikes on the sidewalk through the construction zone.

The closure of the lanes is due to scaffolding trusses which will need to be removed on a section of the bridge.

The construction zone will pose hazards to pedestrians and cyclists, so use caution when traveling across the bridge.
