Kevin Gregson trial continues Monday

OTTAWA – The Kevin Gregson trial resumes Monday in Ottawa. The second week of testimony resumes at the Elgin Street courthouse.

Gregson faces a first degree murder charge in the death of Ottawa police constable, “Eric” Czapnik. Czapnik was killed Dec. 29, 2009, when he was attacked in his cruiser while doing routine paperwork outside the emergency department at the Ottawa Hospital’s Civic campus.

The court is expected to hear more about Gregson’s background Monday when his ex-wife takes the stand.  Her identity is protected by a publication ban.

Also, additional testimony is expected to focus on Gregson’s training with the R.C.M.P.

Later this week, the Ottawa police investigators of Czapnik’s death will be on the stand.

Gregson has pleaded not guilty.
