Conservation authorities warn of unstable ice

Area conservation authorities are warning people to stay off the ice and away from rivers, streams and ditches.
With the warm weather today, the South Nation Conservation and Rideau Valley Conservation Authority say melting snow will cause water levels to rise. They do not expect flood levels to result but warn ice surfaces will become unstable.
Ice fishermen and snowmobilers are warned to stay off rivers and streams and parents are being urged to keep children away from outdoor water sources.
