Ottawa breaks high temperature record for a second straight day

OTTAWA – Ottawa has unofficially smashed another weather record.  It marks the second straight day, and the fifth time 12 days, Ottawa has broken a record.

As of 11 a.m. Monday, the temperature was 17.7 degrees Celsius.  The old record was 16.0 degrees Celsius set in 2010.  

On Sunday, Ottawa broke a record set back in 1966. According to Environment Canada, the temperature reached 25.1 degrees Celsius, beating the old record of 16.1 degrees Celsius.   

With more warm weather in the forecast, we can expect to break more records throughout the week.

On Tuesday, the first day of spring,  we can expect a mix of sun and cloud and a summer-like high of 24. The record for Tuesday is 14.6 from 1995.

On Wednesday there will be cloudy skies with a chance of afternoon showers and a high of 24 degrees. The record for Wednesday is 17.8 set back in 1946.
