Air Canada’s brand appears to have taken a short-term hit, as some consumers have recently switched to other carriers to avoid any flight disruptions, according to industry observers.
With unresolved labour disputes hanging over the airline, Isabella Caporicci of NDG travel in Montreal said the airline has its work cut out to convince passengers they can book and fly with confidence.
“They are just very apprehensive, and if they can possibly choose an alternate airline to fly they will, and they are,” Caporicci said.
Industry observers believe Canada’s largest carrier may be taking a temporary hit because of all the media and and social media coverage of recent labour disputes and other challenges.
Air Canada assured customers on Wednesday that they can continue to book and travel with confidence
Chris Murray, an expert at PI Financial, said he believes consumers will return to Air Canada once the labour issues have settled.
