Pembroke disbands police force

After 134 years of service, the Pembroke police force is no more.
At a meeting Tuesday night, council voted to disband the local service, and next year will contract their policing to the OPP.
Mayor Ed Jacnyo says the move will save taxpayers more than $1 million.
City police officers will have the opportunity to apply for positions within the provincial police.
