Ottawa fire crews respond to three fires over the weekend

OTTAWA – An early morning blaze in Orleans Sunday left a 30-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl homeless.

The woman tried to battle the flames with a fire extinguisher at her home at 512 Wincanton Dr., in the Tenth Line Road and Jeanne D’Arc area.

Ottawa fire crews arrived on scene at 2 a.m. and had the blaze under control within a half hour.

Damage is pegged at 150-thousand dollars.

Meanwhile on Saturday, a kitchen fire netted 15-thousand dollars in damages and left one man with second degree burns.

The man was rushed to hospital, treated and released.

Ottawa fire crews were called to the home at 12 Woodfield Dr. around 1:30 a.m. and found the cause to be oil left on the stove unattended.

Also early Saturday, a blaze gutted a home on Riverside Drive near Huntclub.

Ottawa fire crews were able to get the fire at the large single family home under control,  but the roof has already collapsed.

Two men in their sixties were sleeping when the flames broke out.  One man was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
