OTTAWA – Upcoming federal job cuts and a softening real estate market prompted the Conference Board of Canada to reduce its growth estimates for the local economy.
According to a report released on Monday, Ottawa’s economic growth went from 1.8 to 1.6 per cent, a half point below the forecast for the national average.
On a lighter note – Ottawa’s tech sector, which makes up just 7 per cent of the region’s economy, is expected to grow more than 3 per cent in 2012.
While the Nation’s Capital is at the bottom of the list, Saskatoon leads all cities, followed by Calgary.
