Canadians are learning more about the cuts coming to the CBC over the next three years.
The CBC News network’s Connect with Mark Kelley and CBC Radio’s Dispatches will reportedly be put out of production, according to tweets sent out by staffers during a meeting Tuesday afternoon.
The cuts will also include the closure of news bureaus in Africa and South America, and the elimination of 88 news jobs.
Two-hundred-fifty-six jobs are expected to be cut throughout the CBC’s English services departments.
Last week’s federal budget asked the Canadian broadcaster to cut $115-million, or approximately 10 per cent of its overall budget.
A total of 650 employees are expected to receive pink slips.
