IceDogs take Game 3 from 67’s

OTTAWA – The Niagara IceDogs retook control of the Eastern Conference Final with an impressive 5-2 victory over the Ottawa 67’s in Game 3 at the J. Benson Cartage Centre. Niagara leads the series 2-1.
The 67’s got off to a good start. Tyler Graovac put Ottawa on the board first with a goal at 18:02 of the first period.
But Mitchell Theoret would tie the game just twenty seconds into the 2nd period.
Ottawa regained the lead at 4:16 of the 2nd period after Niagara gave away the puck on their power play. Dalton Smith intercepted a pass near the Niagara blueline and scored off a long shot.
But the 67’s were unable to hold the lead. At 13:24, IceDogs forward Dougie Hamilton scored to make the game 2-2 after 40 minutes.
In the 3rd period, the IceDogs took control of the game. Niagara scored two goals in the first two minutes to take a 4-2 lead, with Andrew Agozzino and Mitchell Theoret finding the back of the net.
Niagara Goaltender Mark Visentin would add an empty net goal to give Niagara the 5-2 final.
The 67’s will hope to get goaltender Petr Mrazek back for the next game. He missed Game 3 due to illness, with back-up Michael Nishi replacing him.
Game 4 is on Wednesday.
