Sens Game Seven analysis

OTTAWA, Ont. – The Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers will saw off on Thursday at Madison Square Garden in Game seven of their Eastern Conference semi-final. Both teams enter with mediocre game seven records. The Sens have never won in their four tries, while the Rangers haven’t won a game seven since 1994.
Sens fans can take solace in some stats according to hockey expert, Liam Maguire. “Anderson’s record in there, the team’s record in there this year. They are due to get a win at some point in time in game seven”.
Maguire also points to the road record of teams in the N.H.L playoffs. Of the 23 playoff games in the Eastern Conference, the road team has won 15.
Two intangibles also come into play. Momentum and pressure.
Maguire tells 1310News, all the momentum is with the Rangers. “Because how the final 40 minutes were played, it’s swung on the Rangers side and they’re going home…that’s why you play for home ice advantage”. He does point out, the Sens have won two post season games at MSG already.
As for pressure, hockey analyst, John Chabot tells 1310News, Ottawa can play loose. “When you’re not expected to be there in the first place, the pressure’s not really on them”. Chabot has played in a number of game sevens during his hockey career. “It dumbs down your game, you don’t have to impress anybody on the road in a seventh game, you just have to win the game”.
