Helene Campbell could be released from hospital in two weeks

TORONTO – Doctors expect Helene Campbell to be released from the hospital in the next couple of weeks. She is still recovering in a Toronto hospital from a double lung transplant.
Helene has walked outside, taken to a treadmill for exercise to regain strength, and she is in a regular hospital ward.
She still can’t eat, so she has a feeding tube. She is also off her respirator, but still has a tracheotomy tube in her throat.
Helene is now learning how to manage her drug regimen because she will have to take anti-rejection drugs for the rest of her life.
In January, Campbell launched a public campaign to increase organ, tissue, and blood donation, getting the attention of celebrities like Justin Bieber and Ellen Degeneres.
