OTTAWA, On – Perhaps it will be flowers? Brunch? Or maybe even a day at the spa! Mothers across the city will be honored on Mother’s Day this weekend.
The tribute to moms is actually celebrated on different days in countries around the world, but here in Canada it’s this Sunday, so get cracking!
If you’re booking a “spa day” to pamper mom – some spas are open on Mother’s Day to handle the rush.
Also, numerous restaurants sprinkled across the city are staging special Mother’s Day brunches. However, make your reservations early because most are expected to sellout.
In the Nation’s Capital, the easiest way to give her flowers that “keep on growing” is to take your mom to the 60th annual Tulip Festival which runs until May 21st. Over 300-thousand bulbs continue to bloom across the city.

The Canada Agriculture Museum will be focusing on healthy living this Mother’s Day weekend. Find out how animal mothers spend their year providing us with staples such as milk, eggs, and meat, and participate in a scavenger hunt.
You can take mom underground on Sunday! From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., The Diefenbunker is offering a specialty tour that focuses on women of the Cold War. Mini-hand treatments and desserts will be offered and a crafting space will be available for kids to make cards and bouquets.
And if your mom is the sporty type, register for the Place d’Orleans ‘Day Before Mothers Day’ Run on Saturday. The fundraiser for minor sport, recreation and physical education goes Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum off St. Laurent Boulevard.
You can choose from 10k, 5k and 3k runs, as well as the Wylie Ryan Mothers Day Kids 1k Run.
