There’s going to be long-weekend lineups at the borders on Monday, as shoppers return from the United States with their haul.
Chris Kealy, a spokesperson from Canada Border Services Agency, said drivers may have to wait up to 45 minutes to get across at some border points.
Kealy said the peak time is between 3 and 10 pm, and said it’s better for people to avoid traveling during that period.
“We’ve looked at historical data over the years and that tends to be the way people go and return,” said Kealy.
He said they will have a full staff on, to minimize delays but said people should still try and avoid traveling during that period.
“If they have an opportunity to spend another day or another few hours in the US to avoid those peak times, we encourage them to do that,” said Kealy.
