Fiest, Jully Black and Simple Plan are among the artists performing on Parliament Hill for Canada’s biggest birthday party.
The National Capital Commission has unveiled the lineup planned for the 2012 Canada Day celebrations, including a few new activities.
“You’ll be able to skate in Jacques Cartier Park, in summer, on synthetic ice, ” NCC CEO Marie Lemay tells 1310News, admitting the NCC can’t take credit for the idea.
“Somebody approached us and suggested it, and we thought ‘Wow, wonderful (idea)’ so we included it this year.”
The park will also host a Grey Cup exhibit and show the Canadian film Breakaway under the stars starting at 10:30 p.m.
Major’s Hill Park will feature a rideable VIA Rail miniature train, lasso lessons from a Calgary Stampede cowboy and an exhibit on the War of 1812.
The NCC has once again partnered with OC Transpo and STO to provide free public transit after 10 p.m.
