GATINEAU – Police have arrested more than 28 people as part of a major drug raid in the Outaouais.
Dozens of officers began raiding 20 homes in Gatineau and Cantley, starting at 4 a.m. Thursday.
Officers from the Gatineau Police Force, MRC des Collines, Surete du Quebec and the RCMP collaborated on the investigation, dubbed “Operation Avalanche.”
Pierre Lanthier with Gatineau Police told 1310News an ongoing eight-month investigation led to the homes being raided.
Police seized large quantities of cocaine, marijuana, speed, ecstacy and GHB, although they haven’t tallied just how much yet. Twelve vehicles were also seized in the raid.
Fifteen people appeared in court on Thursday afternoon and more arrests are expected.
