Doors Open Ottawa takes place this weekend

OTTAWA – The 11th annual Doors Open Ottawa takes place this weekend.

More than 125 venues will welcome the public on June 2 and 3 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Residents can see the inner workings of buildings like the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence, the Britannia Water Treatment Plant and the OC Transpo garage on Walkley.

Mayor Jim Watson officially launched Doors Open Ottawa on Monday at the Chateau Laurier.

The hotel, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary, will also be open to the public. Spokesperson Deneen Perrin said there will be guided tours through the building.

Other venues include the C.D. Howe building, the Cannaught building, the Diefenbunker Museum and the Hungarian Embassy.

This year marks the largest edition of the event.  There will also be a free shuttle to ferry people between 42 of the downtown locations.
