Ottawa police crackdown on nuisance calls

Ottawa police continue to crack down on everything from public drunkeness to traffic violations in the downtown core.

Thirty officers have been carrying out a nuisance enforcement project this weekend in the neighbourhoods of Lowertown, the Byward market, Vanier, Sandy hill and Centretown.

The Sun reports on Friday night, police laid over 200 charges and made a number of arrests.

Operations like these are carried out throughout the year, but police say the one this weekend was put on because of public complaints.
