Conrad Black’s lawyers work to dismiss his remaining convictions

Conrad Black is asking for his remaining convictions to be appealed.

Black’s lawyers have filed a motion saying that prosecutors have intentionally deprived him of his right to an attorney.

The appeal is focused on repealing the seizure of proceeds from the $9-million sale of his New York apartment that he bought from his company Hollinger in 2000.

Black’s lawyers are also arguing that the prosecutors have concealed information from the court to gain access to two warrants allowing investigators to seize his assets.

Although it’s too late for Black to choose lawyers to represent himself, the filing states that it’s not too late to cancel the convictions.

This move allows Black to try to prevent a legal battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for the right to return to the U.S.

Black was released from prison in May.
