Cross-border wine shopping made easy

It will soon be legal to purchase wine in Quebec and bring it home to Ontario.

Whether it’s red, white or rose, pretty soon you’ll be able to buy wine anywhere in Canada.

A private member’s bill, C-311, was brought forward by B-C Tory MP Dan Albas and passed late yesterday.  It allows Canadians to transport wines across provincial borders.

Before the ban was lifted, being caught doing so would land you a $200 fine or possibly jail time.

Albas said it’s been a source of sour grapes for the wine industry for 84 years and it’s time for a change.
