Several OC Transpo routes are coming back

OTTAWA, Ont – Improvements are being made to transit services and several routes are coming back after previously being cut.

It is part of a pilot demonstration that will look at improving mobility for specific groups.

The project will start in late December and includes overnight service seven days a week, which will connect downtown with CHEO and the Ottawa Hospital’s General Campus.

There will also be four more round trips on weekends including at the Hunt Club/Riverside commercial area.  Central Barrhaven will have weekend service and there will be routes including connecting St. Patrick’s Home and other spots near Mooney’s Bay with Billings Bridge Station and Hurdman Station.

“One of the things we were concerned about was the disproportionate impact on a number of the city’s most vulnerable groups – including seniors, people with disabilities, people living with a low income and youth,” Chair of Transit Services Dianne Deans told 1310News.

These changes will run for the first three months of the year to test out the response.
