Steven Paul Boone found guilty

OTTAWA, Ont – The HIV positive man accused of attempted murder after having unprotected sex with unknowing partners, has been found guilty.

Ottawa native Steven Paul Boone, 31, was found guilty on nine of eleven counts, including three counts each of attempted murder, spreading a noxious substance and aggravated sexual assault.

The date for sentencing has not yet been set.

Boone goes to trial again November 13, 2012 for a related but separate incident with a new complainant.

He was first arrested in May 2010 after an 18 year-old claimed to have contracted an infectious disease from him, apparently after additional men came forward with their concerns.

Boone said he “lost count” of how many HIV negative men he had sex with without telling them he had human immunodeficiency virus.
